Nestled in the scenic Bay of Plenty, a recently completed home emphasizes family functionality, crafted specifically for ease of living and memorable gatherings. Designed by JMAC Architecture, this residence embraces a philosophy of connection, providing ample space for both immediate family and visiting loved ones.

A Mudroom for Every Entry

The residents, Alexia and Anton Hopping, highlighted the necessity of a mudroom in their new home. Previously, transitions from outdoor work on their farm to the family living areas brought challenges, like unwelcome odors. The new design allows Anton to step straight from his work into a mudroom, ensuring a clean and welcoming environment for family interactions. This small yet significant detail illustrates how thoughtful home design can address practical needs while fostering comfort.

Welcoming Spaces and Connections

True to their commitment to family, the Hoppings’ home is equipped with features that encourage gatherings. From the sunken lounge, perfect for relaxing family time, to the spacious open-plan kitchen, every area is designed for interaction. The kitchen serves as a central hub where cooking and conversation blend seamlessly, echoing the family's values of togetherness and shared experiences.

Inclusivity Through Design

Architectural choices reflect a commitment to family safety and comfort, particularly regarding their grandchildren. Softened corners, easy-to-operate door knobs, and ample storage solutions are strategically integrated to make the space family-friendly. Large glass walls provide stunning views of the surrounding Bay of Plenty landscape while creating an inviting atmosphere indoors. In Alexia's own words, "It’s a big deal for us, feeling we let the outdoors in.”
